You may be eligible to join The American Legion if you meet the following criteria:
- U.S. Military Service: You have served at least one day of active duty in the United States Armed Forces.
- Honorable Discharge: You were honorably discharged or are currently serving honorably.
- No War-Era Restriction: Due to the LEGION Act (Let Everyone Get Involved in Opportunities for National Service Act), passed in 2019, eligibility now includes veterans who served anytime after December 7, 1941, regardless of combat service or declared war periods.
- Supply a DD214.
This includes service in:
- U.S. Army
- U.S. Navy
- U.S. Air Force
- U.S. Marine Corps
- U.S. Coast Guard
- Space Force (as part of the Department of the Air Force)
