The Post 4 American Legion Auxiliary meets at 7:00 P.M. on the second Wednesday of the month at the Thomas Hopkins Post #4 located at 816 North Water Street, Wichita, Kansas 67203.
The American Legion Auxiliary, almost 90 years old and nearly 900,000 members strong, is the largest patriotic women's organization in the world. Affiliated with The American Legion, the Auxiliary is a leading veteran's service organization with members in 8,900 communities. The organization sponsors volunteer programs on the national and local levels, focusing on three major areas: veterans, young people and the community.
For every man in World War I who endured the dangers and hardships of camp, shore and battlefront, there was a woman serving at home to help make possible America's victory - his mother, wife, sister, daughter and granddaughter.
After the war was won in 1919, these men banded together to form The American Legion to carry forward their service to the country in peacetime. It was only natural that the women serving and supporting the home front would desire to continue to serve. The result of their desire to continue their service to others resulted in the formation of the American Legion Auxiliary.
To support The American Legion programs for veterans, young people and communities
To provide for today's needs while being advocates for a brighter future
To advance the understanding of patriotism and responsibility of citizenship
To promote individual integrity and family values
To ensure as volunteers, that Auxiliary members continue to be the leaders in all that is good in this nation today, tomorrow and for generations to come through serving others first and not self
